Prairiewoods offers accommodations for people who seek the solitude and peace of a setting in the woods. Two earth-friendly buildings provide such ecological features as straw bale insulation, radiant floor heating, solar power as a source of electricity, and a wetland septic system. A privacy wall separates the two hermitages.
The hermitages are equipped with bath and kitchen facilities. Furnishings include a single bed, easy chair, small table and chair. Towels and bed linens are provided. Heating and lighting are adequate and comfortable. Only DC appliances may be used. Non-DC hair dryers and shavers are not usable.
Guests will prepare and provide their own food. Basics such as sugar, flour, coffee, tea, salt and pepper, and cooking oil will be provided, as well as cooking utensils.
We recommend good walking shoes and comfortable clothing. Hiking trails and a labyrinth are available on our 70 acres. We are also located about ½ mile from the Cedar Valley Nature Trail.
You determine how long you wish to stay. Spiritual guidance and retreat guidance are available upon request. Suggested offering: $30 for the first day, $25 each additional day; $150 per week. Reservations are required.
